I try to stay away from processed foods, but I have to admit that high quality ketchups and salsas come in pretty handy as a base for slow cooker sauces. I’ve used both ingredients in this super easy sauce for chicken wings that are made effortlessly in your slow cooker. Finger lickin’ good!
- 3 drops hot pepper sauce
- 1 tablespoon salsa
- 1teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 2 1/2 pound chicken wings
- 3/4 cup ketchup (preferably without high fructose corn syrup)
- 2 teaspoon molasses
- Juice of 1 lemon
You could easily double the recipe and bring pot luck or serve at your next super bowl party.
A classic pairing to chicken wings is a blue cheese dip and celery sticks. Here is an easy, healthy blue cheese dip mixed together in a snap:
Combine 2 cups Greek yogurt with 8 ounces crumbled blue cheese, a pinch of salt and pepper. Place any leftover in an airtight container and refrigerate. It makes a fabulous blue cheese dressing by thinning it with a little cream or milk and adding fresh minced garlic, scallions, and fresh chopped herbs such as parsley, basil, oregano or thyme.
