This is one of the most satisfying and easy slow cooker recipes with a ton of versatility. A few simple ingredients yield a lot of flavor; pair this classic Italian recipe with your favorite pasta or ladle it into a hoagie roll. A simple salad is all you need to complete this meal.

    Ingredients
    • 1 1/2pound mild or hot Italian sausage links
    • 1 large onion, halved and sliced
    • 2 large bell peppers, sliced lengthwise, seeds and membrane removed
    • 1 (28-ounce) can of tomato sauce
    • 1teaspoon dried basil
    • 1teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1/4teaspoon dried oregano
    Instructions
    1. Place the sausage links in the bottom of a large slow cooker. Add in the onion and bell pepper slices. Pour the tomato sauce over the sausage and vegetables. Sprinkle in the dried basil and following 3 ingredients (through ground black pepper) carefully incorporating the spices into the sauce without disturbing the sausage and vegetable placement in the slow cooker.
    2. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or on HIGH for 3-4 hours.

    My favorite sausage to use in this recipe is the classic pork, but a chicken Italian sausage would be just as good.
